Queenscourt Outside
Many people wish to remain at home during the last year of
life. While this can bring comfort, it can also be challenging
for families to cope. Even with the support of GPs, District
Nurses, Queenscourt at Home and Care Agencies, often, it’s
the everyday tasks such as ironing, gardening, or getting to
appointments, that makes the di昀昀erence between coping
and feeling overwhelmed.
Queenscourt Outside is a service designed to support patients
and families beyond the hospice walls. A small, specially trained
group of volunteers, many with healthcare backgrounds, are
now helping families with those “little things” that can make a big
di昀昀erence during this di昀케cult time.
We have continued our strong start to the year with Grants & Trusts
and we are proud to say that we have been successful in many of our applications
for core funding. We have also secured a range of funding for key pieces of equipment
like blood pressure monitors, patient observation kits and mouthcare kits, along with
other items such as nightwear for patients, refreshments for patients’ loved ones,
and funding towards our Forget-Me-Not Club.
The Grants & Trusts process can be complex
with some applications taking up to 12 months
before a decision is made by a trust.
We currently have over 40 applications for funding awaiting
decisions, so 昀椀ngers crossed we receive more good news
before the end of the year!
Grant-giving trusts make a real di昀昀erence to the care we
deliver and we would like to say THANK YOU to all the trusts
that have supported us so far this year.
Grants are an important source of income for our Hospice, contributing towards
the essential costs of delivering our Specialist Palliative Care, either by
funding speci昀椀c projects such as refurbishments and new equipment
or towards our core running costs.
We would like to thank The Margaret Robertson Charitable Trust, The Broome Family
Charitable Trust, Skipton Building Society Charitable Trust and Tesco Stronger Starts
and all the trusts that have supported us this year.
