Directors’ Message & Our Impact
in 2025-2026
Dear Supporters,
As we re昀氀ect on 2026, we can
honestly say it has been the most
di昀케cult year in Queenscourt
Hospice’s 35-year history.
Like many hospices across the UK,
we have faced 昀椀nancial pressures of
our income not keeping up with our
increasing costs of wages, national
insurance and running costs. The result
has been heartbreaking decisions that
none of us ever wanted to make. We
have had to reduce clinical services
including hospice at home, outpatient
and therapy, reduce our inpatient unit
from 10 beds to 5 beds, saying goodbye
to valued colleagues through sta昀昀
redundancies.
These changes have been incredibly
di昀케cult for everyone connected with
Queenscourt. Yet throughout these
challenges, one thing has shone
brighter than ever: the remarkable
generosity and compassionate
support of our community.
When we shared the reality of our
situation, you responded. Together, you
have raised more than £1 million so
far this year, providing vital support at
a time when it has never been needed
more. Every donation, every fundraising
event, every charity shop purchase and
every act of kindness has made a real
di昀昀erence.
Your support helps our dedicated
sta昀昀 and volunteers continue to do
what they do best: provide specialist
palliative care and support to local
people living with life-limiting illnesses,
helping them to live life to the fullest
extent possible and ensuring families
receive the care and compassion they
need when it matters most.
funding from the NHS and government,
meaning the majority of the money
needed to provide our services must
be raised within the community. This is
not a challenge unique to Queenscourt.
Across the country, six in ten hospices
have reduced services this year.
The support we have received so far
has made a genuine di昀昀erence. It has
helped us protect essential services,
support patients and families and
provide much-needed stability during
an exceptionally challenging period.
